USA Today bestselling author Heather Webber’s South of the Buttonwood Tree is a captivating blend of magical realism, heartwarming romance, and small-town Southern charm.
Blue Bishop has a knack for finding lost things. While growing up in charming small-town Buttonwood, Alabama, she’s happened across lost wallets, jewelry, pets, her wandering neighbor, and sometimes, trouble. No one is more surprised than Blue, however, when she comes across an abandoned newborn baby in the woods, just south of a very special buttonwood tree.
Sarah Grace Landreneau Fulton is at a crossroads. She has always tried so hard to do the right thing, but her own mother would disown her if she ever learned half of Sarah Grace’s secrets.
The unexpected discovery of the newborn baby girl will alter Blue’s and Sarah Grace’s lives forever. Both women must fight for what they truly want in life and for who they love. In doing so, they uncover long-held secrets that reveal exactly who they really are—and what they’re willing to sacrifice in the name of family.

South of the buttonwood tree
review
I had been wanting to read South of the Buttonwood Tree for a few months now, and I am so glad I did. What a riveting story with a powerful message. It gave me all the feels and inspired me to stop, breath and listen. Right from the first chapter it swept me into the magic and mystery of the small southern town of Buttonwood. I fell in love with the main characters, whose alternating view points allow us to take a closer look into their turbulent internal worlds, hopes and dreams, making it imposible to close the book before we know how it all ends.
Heather Webber’s masterful world building, superb character development and mysteries with twists and turns so elaborate and unexpected that they keep us on a rollecoaster of emotions, make South of the Buttonwood Tree, yet another one of her must read stand alone novels. There is so much to love about this book.
Exposing all the damage was the only way anything could be fixed properly.
Heather Webber, South of the buttonwood tree
South of the Buttonwood Tree is a heartwarming story of two incredible, though flawed women, who need to come to terms with their past and find a way towards a brighter future. Family secrets and painful questions and memories from the past, need to make way for acceptance, forgiveness and new beginings.
Nature, bird, and Southern fiction lovers will be delighted by the details and incredible descriptions in this book. I would highly recommend South of the Buttonwood Tree to anyone looking for a story with a heart, that is able to whisk you away to a beautiful world of love, hope, inspiration, and family values.
Moral compasses are easily broken when dropped in between a rock and a hard place.
