The One With the Running Noses!
This post is my personal, honest review of Running of the Noses!
Running of the Noses
Written by Jon-Barrett Ingels | Illustrated by Patrick Ballesteros
I am really excited and honored to be a reviewer for the 10th Annual Multicultural Children's Book Day this year. Not only do I get to write about children's books but also read new books by authors I may not have read before. What a delightful surprise "Running of the Noses" from Piper+Enza was. Having had horrible allergies, 10 out of 12 months growing up, I know all too well what it feels like dealing with a runny nose.
I can only imagine how comforting "Running of the Noses" would have been for me, had I read it then. How much of a difference it would have made, had my teachers read it in class. Maybe the bullies would have been more empathetic, maybe I would not have felt so anxious, sad and embaraced. A story about self acceptance, empathy, healthy habbits, and friendships that needs to be at home and at school. A must have for families with young children.
Runny noses. Everyone gets them. You’re not alone!
In the first book of the Piper + Enza series, Piper, along with her Comfy Crew Enza and Bird, support their friend Nicco as he experiences a snotty, stuffy cold. Along the way they laugh, share stories, battle dragons and learn that going to the doctor isn’t scary and can help you out— you know, because all doctors went to doctor school to learn everything doctor!
Don’t miss this hilarious, heartwarming story from Piper + Enza, a health and happiness company started by a group of parents who want to support kids everywhere with the journey of growing up—and dedicated to all the little boogers in our lives.

From The Children's Book Review: "Running of the Noses gently acknowledges and validates the anxiety many kids feel about being sick and visiting the doctor while still offering reassuring advice. Piper’s upbeat character and the dynamic, comic-book style illustrations are the perfect antidotes to feeling under the weather. Peppered throughout the story and offered in a Q&A at the end are facts to help readers understand what a runny nose is and how it protects their bodies."

Running of the Noses -My Review
Running of the Noses is the first in the Piper + Enza series about children's health. Written by Jon-Barrett and illustrated by Patrick Ballesteros is a delightful story about two friends, one of whom has a cold. I laughed out loud, reading about their adventures and fell in love with them. Engaging writing and beautiful illustrations along with relatable, ADORABLE, funny characters make this lovely picture book an excellent read-aloud pick for schools, libraries and home story-times.
"Sometimes, you just gotta blow your nose..."
Jon-Barrett Ingels, Running of the Noses
As I was reading Running of the Noses I found myself giggling, laughing, cheering, and tearing up. A rollercoaster of emotions that took me on a wild ride back to my childhood. I was once again that little girl, who was anxious to go to school thinking something was wrong with her. If only, she knew that "Sometimes, you just gotta blow your nose..." and that's ok.
Of course, it is, and by the time I got to high school I knew that, but with stories like the ones in the Piper + Enza series, children can learn about it in a fun, engaging and memorable way. I highly recommend Running of the Noses and all the books in this fantastic series. It is a book that deserves to be read again and again.
