2. Things To Do Near Jefferson, TX | Uncertain, TX
The first time my boys and I took a trip to Jefferson, TX we booked a tour of Caddo Lake. We were told to meet our tour guide at Shady Glade Marina in Uncertain, TX. We could wait at the marina cafe, which was known to serve the best chicken fried steak. Now, I do love chicken fried steak, so I was sold immediately. After a beautiful drive from Jefferson we pulled into Shady Glade Marina which turned out to be a part of the Shady Glade Resort. Lodge and cabins mere steps from the shore of one of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see.
Shady Glade Cafe did not dissapoint either. A charming lakeside cafe with great menu selection, tasty food and a great athmosphere. We had the chilli cheese fries, meatloaf and the chicken fried steak. Turned out many of the best tours leave from Shade Glade Marina, which is beautiful and proved very photogenic. Boat tours, fishing, hunting, birding, wildlife, canoe & kayaks rentals, great food and breathtaking views make Uncertain one of our favorite things to do near Jefferson, TX.
3. Things to Do Near Jefferson, TX | Lake O’The Pines
Surrounded by tall pine trees and sitting on 16,919 acres Lake O’ The Pines is the ultimate retreat destination. I say destination because it is not just a lake. Awe inspiring sunsets, serene, quiet mornings, only interupted by the sounds of chirping birds, the waves and occasional boat taking off from a neighboring villa. If you have never stayed the night at this magnificent lake, you absolutely should do so. It is without a doubt a place you would want to return to again and again.
With a few marinas this lake is great for fishing, so bring your own boat or rent one. Camp, rent a cabin or an airbnb overlooking the lake. A paradise for stargazers, photographers and nature lovers Lake O’The Pines is delightful any time of the day. Grab a cuppa, your favorite book and sit by the lake on a crisp, clear morning and just be in the moment. One of the best ways to experience the beauty of East Texas is to explore the Piney Woods Wine Trail and all it has to offer.
